Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce Orazio Fantasia has signed a new two-year deal that will see him remain with the club until at least the end of 2017.

Fantasia was recruited from Norwood in South Australia and picked up by the Bombers with the 55th selection in the 2013 National Draft.

“Obviously being from interstate, the lure to return home is always there but I am really enjoying my time at the Bombers,” Fantasia said.

“I feel we have a really strong group of young players coming through and I am really excited about what we can achieve together over the next few years.”

Orazio made his debut against Richmond in Round 20 last season. He has played five senior games, the most recent being against West Coast in Round 11 this year.

“Over the next two years I want to work really hard to cement myself in the senior side,” Fantasia said.

“We have some really strong leaders that I will continue to learn from.

“The bond among the players is really strong and we are committed to ensuring this proud club returns to the finals very soon.”

Essendon List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro said the 19 year old is one of a number of exciting prospects at the club.

“Orazio is highly regarded at Essendon as having the potential to be a key midfielder in years to come,” Dodoro said.

“His ability to run and carry the ball will add to our exciting midfield in the future with the likes of Travis Colyer, Jayden Laverde, Kyle Langford, Shaun Edwards and the Merrett brothers.”

Fantasia has missed the last few weeks because of a thigh injury, but is set to return to the field this weekend.
