Essendon is confident it can secure some exciting talent with its later picks in next month’s National Draft.
The draft pool has been described as ‘shallow’ but Bombers List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro said his team is well prepared.
“It’s deep enough for us,” Dodoro told RSN.
“We’ve done our homework and we think we’ll get some quality.
“Even at the back end we’ve identified a few boys that we like and I think it’ll be one of those drafts where all the clubs that have done their homework will walk out satisfied.
“People are saying it’s a shallow draft but maybe in five years time we’ll say it was a good draft, time will tell."
The Bombers have four picks inside the first 25 selections at next month’s National Draft.
Their next selection is pick 57.
Dodoro said there are a few gaps on the list the Club will look to address.
“We probably need another key forward and key back now that we’ve lost Jake (Carlisle) so that would be a focus for us for sure,” he said.
“We’ll be looking for rebounding defenders as well.
“When you’ve got selections such as the ones we’ve got, we’re going to pick the best talent.
“Obviously it’ll be dictated towards the end a little by needs, but I think those early selections will definitely be best talent available.”
