The injuries to Travis Colyer and Tom Bellchambers will open the door for some players from the VFL to secure a spot in the senior side over the next few weeks.
Here is a look at some of the contenders.
Jason Winderlich
The veteran is averaging 19 possessions and three tackles in his two VFL games. He has shown he can be a match winner in attack and defence at AFL level. Winderlich also brings valuable leadership to the side with suggestions he's basically another 'coach' out on the field.
Courtenay Dempsey
Dempsey did everything right a fortnight ago when he was sent back to VFL level to find some form. He picked up 28 disposals, including five tackles, and was named among the Bombers’ best. A short stint in the VFL could prove exactly what Dempsey needs to have a strong second half of 2015.
Shaun McKernan
The former-Adelaide Crow has dominated at VFL level all season long, playing in the ruck and pushing forward. Proving too big, too strong and too fast, McKernan averages 21 disposals, seven marks and four tackles a game. He's also booted 12 goals.
Jackson Merrett
Averaging 22 disposals a game in the VFL this season, Merrett has begun to push forward more, kicking thee goals, as well as averaging three tackles a game. A monster 29-dispoal and two-goal game before the bye will certainly do his chances for AFL selection no harm.
