A deal with Brent Stanton could be fast approaching according to List and Recruiting Manager, Adrian Dodoro.
The midfielder is yet to sign with the club after a stellar 2015 where he averaged 26 disposals and four tackles a game.
Discussions are progressing well with the 29-year-old who has flagged his intention to remain at the club.
“Stanton is a required player,” said Adrian Dodoro.
“We’re just working through the finer details of the contract at the moment, and we’re extremely hopeful of a resolution.
“Stanton wants to be a one club player.”
Courtenay Dempsey is another Bomber who is yet to sign on for next season.
The 28-year-old is an unrestricted free agent, but is keen to continue his career at the Bombers.
“We’re in dialogue with Courtenay and it’s fair to say his future will be decided once he meets the new coach in the coming weeks,” said Dodoro.
A decision on the Essendon coaching position is expected to be made by mid October.
