Essendon greats Tim Watson and Mark Harvey have continued the build up ahead of the club’s signature “Glory and Fame Event” in April.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1984 and 1985 premierships, the event will be held on Friday 10 April at the Grand Hyatt.

The event falls in line with Essendon’s Round 2 clash against Hawthorn on Sunday 12th April at the MCG, whom the Bombers overcame on both occasions in 1984 and 1985 to secure the back-to-back flags.

Speaking with SEN on Wednesday morning, Harvey nominated Watson as the man most likely to lead the charge over the celebratory weekend.

“You’ll be leading the celebrations, Tim, no doubt,” Harvey joked.

Watson, who played a major role in both premierships, shed a curious– albeit unlikely– scenario that has been on his mind in the lead up to the Glory and Fame Event.

“I have one great fear about this dinner– it’s going to be held at the MCG, and the game being played that night is against Hawthorn,” Watson said.

“What are the chances of Dermott (Brereton) walking through the room, mid-dinner, and grabbing hold of Billy Duckworth and giving him a big kiss on his cheek at his table.”

There are a number of packages available for the Glory and Fame Event on Friday 10 April. Click here to purchase your tickets today.
