GWS will enter this week’s game full of confidence after breaking a two game losing streak against the Swans in round 12.
The Swans were unable to keep up with the great running demonstrated by the young Giants outfit, eventually going down by 42-points.
Each side has made two changes to the team with Michael Hartley and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti expected to provide some much needed support for Essendon’s backline.

Here are the burning questions.
Does Heath Shaw require a man-on-man match up?
Heath Shaw was the catalyst for the Giants last week out of the backline. The defender collected seven rebound 50s and was crucial in helping to not just clear the ball to the midfield, but also set the structures in defence. The former Magpie is averaging a career high 26-possessions per game and 8.5 rebounds form the defensive 50. He’s also ranked third for metres gained across the competition. In his game preview, Robert Shaw highlighted that the Bombers may want to look at playing a ‘defensive forward’ on the Giants’ defender. If this is the case, we could see Jackson Merrett, Will Hams or even Mathew Stokes play a specific role. The key to stopping him will be nullifying his run and outsmarting him to catch him off guard.
Is Jeremy Cameron the danger man in the forward line?
AFL.com.au writers believe that the forward is due for a big week out against the Bombers, but will this be the case? Cameron forms part of a formidable GWS attack alongside Jonathan Patton. In his return from injury, Michael Hartley could have an important role to play on Cameron this week. Hartley’s return will be a welcome addition to the team, as it means that there is less pressure on other key defender James Gwilt.
Ruck ‘n’ Goal?
With two ruckmen once again included in the mix this week, Matthew Leuenberger and Mark Jamar should look to take advantage of the absence of the in form Shane Mumford. However, the two also need to make the most of their opportunities in front of goal – providing another tall marking option for the Essendon midfielders. The Giants' Rory Lobb, has proven to be not only a handful around the contest, but also in front of goal where he has kicked 17 goals for the season. It will be important for Jamar and Leuenberger to get open in the forward line and convert their chances.
Watch out for:
Toby Greene will be an important man to watch this week. Greene kicked four goals, collected 21-disposals and provided plenty of run.
