Although the season isn’t going how we would like as Essendon fans, there is so much to be excited about.
As an Essendon supporting Fantasy coach, owning the best forward available in the competition and the second highest scoring player is a good feeling. Zach Merrett had a massive game on Saturday afternoon against the Tigers. He racked up 34 disposals, seven marks, 10 tackles and a goal to amass a whopping 152 Fantasy points. This has taken his average to within three points of Brownlow Medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield.
Merrett’s three round average of 133.7 is 11 points better than the next bloke. Huge!
On Monday night Orazio Fantasia was named as the NAB Rising Star nominee for round 17. After booting the first goal of the match he went on to collect 11 disposals, lay seven tackles and kick another two majors to finish with 88 points. This helped him to add $12K to his price and go in with a chance of another price rise this week thanks to a breakeven of 59.
In the third and final round of dual position additions, two Bombers featured in the 12 players who gained an extra position based on their roles within the team. Kyle Langford’s stints in the middle has seen him add MID status to make him a FWD/MID for the remainder of the year. First year player Darcy Parish has alternatively pushed forward enough to now be available as a FWD/MID.
The Bombers went down by 19 points on the scoreboard and also suffered a 1791-1536 defeat in Fantasy points.
This week Essendon takes on the Lions in what could be a free flowing Fantasy game. Both sides are among the teams who give up the most Fantasy points.
