Former Sydney player Xavier Richards has commenced training with Essendon.
Richards played 12 games with the Swans, including all four of the side’s 2016 finals appearances.
Essendon VFL player Ben McNiece will also train with the AFL group alongside rookie candidates Shaun McKernan and Yestin Eades.
McNiece finished third in the VFL best and fairest this season.
The defender played 16 games throughout the year, averaging 16 disposals.
