Essendon Football Club has provided a financial Christmas boost to 11 local sporting clubs.
Through the trading results of the Windy Hill Venue, the club has distributed $168,000 to the sporting organisations to help purchase equipment and improve facilities.
“We’re really pleased to be able to make these funds available to the local sporting clubs,” Windy Hill Venue General Manager Alan Burton said.
“The latest distribution brings the Essendon Football Club’s contribution to local sporting organisations to around $1.7 million over the last ten years and close to $500,000 in the last three years.”
The Essendon Baseball Club will use the money to install a batting cage and screens. The Essendon Rowing Club will acquire a single skull for its junior squad, while Athletics Essendon will purchase some Olympic hurdles. The Essendon Bowl Club will also improve its Club House.
The affiliated sporting clubs boast about 2,000 members.
