A run through the middle of the ground by Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti set up the first goal of the term.  He found Jayden Laverde who then spotted up Mitch Brown.  The former Cat, who has played at both ends throughout the game, nailed the goal to bring the margin back to one point.

Orazio Fantasia increased the lead when he kicked his third goal.  Again it came via a fast break, allowing Fantasia to run into an open forward line.

With a 15 point lead and seven minutes to play, Essendon controlled the possession and sent extra numbers into defence.  

Mathew Stokes was instrumental in the final term, collecting 14 possessions.

Despite conceding 69 inside 50's, the Dons only gave up nine goals, while booting 11 of their own from 44 inside 50's.
