Orazio Fantasia’s Rising Star nomination for round 17 caps off an excellent season so far for the Essendon forward.

Becoming more comfortable in his new role in attack, Fantasia has proven damaging in front of the sticks.

The 20-year old has kicked 21 goals from 15 games this year, including 11 majors over the last month.

This isn’t Fantasia’s first nomination for the award, having also receive the nomination in the final round of the 2015 season for his starring game against Collingwood.

The speedster turned it on against the Pies, winning 27-disposals at an impressive 83% efficiency.

While he didn’t have as much of the ball against the Tigers, collecting 11 possessions, Fantasia made his disposals count.

He kicked three goals, laid seven tackles and had seven contested possessions.

Benefitting from his first full pre-season, Fantasia has been a revelation in his third season as a Bomber.

His run, carry and versatility as a player has caught the attention of the AFL community and his continued development will see him become an important part of the Bombers push to play finals football in the years to come.

Fantasia’s nomination sees him join Darcy Parish as the second Essendon player nominated for the award so far this year.
