Last Saturday night in the Dreamtime at the G match, the Bombers went down by 38 points but there were plenty of noteworthy Fantasy performances.
Brendon Goddard (MID, $534,000) posted his highest score of the season with 134. This has taken his three round average to 121.7, to place him fourth on the list for form players in the game. He is priced nicely if you think he can keep up this scoring.
The regular names joined the captain at the top of the table with Zach Merrett, James Kelly and David Zaharakis keeping true to form and scoring over the Fantasy ton.
The Bombers racked up 1593 points to the Tigers’ 1705 to keep the Dons as the fourth highest scoring team for the year. Unfortunately, of late, Essendon has given up the second most Fantasy points ranking behind the Suns over the last month for points against.
Following the breakevens, Matt Dea and Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti need to score 40 and 42 respectively to maintain their price. With a game against the Dockers, who have also been giving up plenty of points to their opponents, the duo should once again increase in value. The best advice on these guys is to trade them when the bye round comes along.
Michael Hartley will miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury and should be put on the trade table. Sadly, his eight points on the weekend meant he dropped $19K. Mitch Brown has reached his peak. In fact, his 58 points meant his price didn’t move. His breakeven is still achievable at 71, but if you are looking to upgrade him, now is a good time. It shouldn’t be too much of an issue to wait until the bye to trade Brown out.
Don’t forget to plan your team for the upcoming byes. They start in round 13 where six teams have the week off. Your best 18 players (form your 22) will count towards your score. The Bombers have the round 14 bye and the best strategy is to trade out player with an upcoming bye for someone coming off their bye. So you might move on Dea and Walla ahead of round 14 for a premium Crow, Sun, Tiger, Saint, Blue or Magpie.
