Essendon Football Club is thrilled to announce Kia Motors Australia will remain a driving force behind the Bombers after signing a new multi-year deal.
A co-major partner for the past four seasons, Kia Motors Australia will extend its strong relationship with the Club until the end of 2018.
Essendon Chief Executive Officer, Xavier Campbell, said the new deal was a significant vote of confidence in the direction of the football Club.
“I’m extremely pleased to announce our co-major partner Kia Motors Australia has decided to extend its partnership with the Essendon Football Club until the end of 2018,” Campbell said.
“Kia and Essendon Football Club joined forces in 2012, and today’s partnership extension signifies Kia’s willingness to stand up for the future of our football Club.
“Our football Club is heading in a new and exciting direction, John Worsfold is building the next team we believe will bring the Bombers sustained success, and we are excited to have Kia come along for the ride.”
Kia will continue to support the Club on the field and through its important work in the community.
The Kia logo will remain proudly on the Club’s Guernsey, and they will also remain the sponsor of the Club’s Kia Kinder Carnival community program which promotes fun and fitness for kindergarten students.
Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer, Damien Meredith, said the Club’s promising future played a significant role in their decision to re-sign.
"Kia Motors Australia's decision to renew the long-running partnership with the Essendon Bombers was, ultimately, about loyalty and the very Australian ethos of supporting your mates through thick and thin," Meredith said.
"The last couple of years have had some challenges but a cornerstone of Kia's corporate character is supporting our partners both in business and in life.
"The decision to extend the sponsorship of the Bombers is an expression of that loyalty to the club, to the players and to the army of unwavering Bomber fans.
“We believe that the decision, while also based on sound commercial principles, is a fair representation of Kia's strong confidence in the future of both the Bombers and Kia Motors."
