Essendon Coach John Worsfold says skill improvement is a 'massive focus' but doesn't expect to find a quick fix to the side’s inaccuracy in front of goal.

The Bombers kicked 14.14 against St Kilda as the side fell narrowly short of their second win of the season.

Worsfold said the team’s overall skill level is something that is constantly worked on.

“You can’t address the accuracy in one week, it’s got to be on-going and that’s certainly a focus,” he said.

“Our skill and ball use across the whole field, we’re aiming to make sure we keep improving it.”

Joe Daniher told On the Couch on Monday that he is continually working on his goal kicking and doesn’t have any restrictions placed on how many shots at goal he can have at training.

Worsfold said it doesn’t come down to one individual player.

“I’m confident that Joe is aware of what he needs to do to improve his accuracy and he’s working very hard on that,” he said.

“As a team we want to kick more goals, Joe wasn’t the only one who missed shots last week.

“Players missed kicks through the middle of the ground that cost us at the other end.

“Skill improvement is a massive focus for us that we’re continuing to work on.”

Daniher is likely to face All-Australian defender Alex Rance on Saturday.

The Bombers recalled David Zaharakis and Matthew Leuenberger for the clash.

The Dons have used 38 players this season – the equal most across the AFL.

One player yet to feature is Aaron Francis.

Worsfold said even if the number six draft does get his chance, it will only provide a glimpse of what he will eventually be capable of.

“My view is that he’d be right to get through a game now and cope with the intensity of a full game of AFL footy," Worsfold said.

“He’s no where near where he’s going to get to with a full pre season under his belt and being a first year player they don’t do the full load anyway.

“Our expectations are that if he comes in and plays we’re just going to see glimpses of his talent, we’re not going to see the end product.

“We’re hoping that he performs at a really high level this weekend in the VFL and pushes hard for selection.”
