Essendon VFL will look to open their 2016 account when they take on North Ballarat tonight at Bendigo’s Queen Elizabeth Oval.
The Bombers welcome back Courtenay Dempsey for his first game of the new season while Jason Ashby, Shaun McKernan, Tom Wallis and Mark Jamar return from injury to face the Roosters.
McKernan will look to recapture the sparkling form which saw him boot six goals in a half before an ankle injury put an end to the final VFL practice match against Richmond.
Jackson Merrett and Ryan Crowley will make the trip to north after being left out of the senior lineup that will meet Geelong.
Sam Heavyside has been withdrawn from the match and is the only change to the squad announced on Thursday night.
The Roosters, now a stand-alone VFL club, come into the match in good form following a six point win away from home over Coburg last weekend.
The Bombers are urging supporters to take advantage of the great weather and come to enjoy the action which will kick off from 7.30pm.
Fans who are unable to attend the game can tune in and listen via VFL Radio through the website or Essendon App. You can also follow all the action live by the Essendon VFL Twitter account.
