Essendon will take a cautious approach with Jayden Laverde’s recovery from a shoulder problem sustained in the match against Geelong.
The 20 year old left the field shortly before half time after landing awkwardly following a marking contest.
“Jayden’s surgeon only got back into the country yesterday, so Jayden is catching up with him today,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.
“They’ll make a decision firstly on whether or not he needs surgery.
“We think that’s likely to be the case and then we’ll wait on the surgeon’s advice on how long that will be.
“Certainly with Jayden being a blue chip investment for the Club – we’ll be looking for the best long term outcome for him.”
The Bombers will be coming off a nine day break when they line-up for the clash with Collingwood.
The extended interval will allow the side to spend extra time building their cohesion on the training track.
“We’ll get two main sessions in before Anzac Day,” Crow said.
“We’ve got the luxury of recovering early in the week and then getting some really good training and some work in heading into two six day breaks after Anzac Day.
“It’s really important we do get that work in to set us up for the next few weeks.”
