Darcy Parish says he’s keen to work on his strength and his running ability over the pre-season.
The 19 year old celebrated the final game of his debut season with a win over Carlton.
The Bombers led at every change to win by 24 points.
“Obviously it’s awesome to finish the way we have,” Parish said.
“It has been a long year but an enjoyable year.
“The supporters have been awesome all year and to win for them today was great.”
Parish collected 23 possessions and laid eight tackles to be an influential figure in the Essendon midfield against Carlton.
After landing at the Club via the fifth pick in last November’s National Draft, the former Geelong Flacon has played 20 games.
He said playing alongside the likes of David Zaharakis, Zach Merrett and Brendon Goddard every week had fast tracked his improvement after the loss of several senior players in January.
“They’ve been super for my development throughout the year,” he said.
“It was obviously disappointing circumstances at the start but it was a great opportunity for me to develop in the league.
“I’ve really enjoyed it, I’ve learnt a lot and it has been a great honour.”
Parish spent the majority of the season in the heart of the Essendon midfield and plans to continue working on his game over the summer.
“Getting a bit bigger would definitely help and working on my running ability a bit more,” he said.
“It’ll be a big pre-season but I’m looking forward to.”
