Here is a look at some of the better performers in the VFL side's clash against Collingwood.
Ryan Crowley
The veteran looked a class above in his second game at VFL level. Crowley gathered 30 possessions and kicked four goals in a fantastic performance that backed up a solid first up VFL outing. Not only his possession tally, but also his ability to hit the scoreboard will put his name up for a recall.
Jonathan Simpkin
Simpkin is just a pure ball-magnet at VFL level. His stats alone tell the tale of a brilliant day at Victoria Park with 22 kicks, 10 handballs, 10 marks, nine inside 50’s, three rebound 50’s and capping it off with two goals. The midfielder has been the Bombers highest possession getter in all three VFL matches this season.
Nick Kommer
Didn’t trouble the scorers as much as some of his teammates but he had a high number of score involvements. His trademark pressure was on show with eight tackles to go with his 17 disposals (eight kicks, nine handballs), five marks, three inside 50’s. Two missed opportunities on goal would have made a solid game a great one.
Jason Ashby
Ashby was the clear standout of the first quarter when Collingwood tested the Bombers. The back-flanker was exceptionally clean with his hands and finished with 22 touches.
Sam Michael
Was part of a rock solid backline group on Saturday, but Michael’s ability to rebound the ball and win possession deep in defensive 50 was a key. His 16 possessions, four marks and four rebound 50’s could be a benefit to the senior backline who will come up against the Blues.
