The Bombers returned to Etihad Stadium to play under the roof in the last game of round 16 that saw an inspired effort with the boys unfortunately going down by less than two goals.
Our Fantasy star of the year, Zach Merrett, collected 36 disposals, two marks and five tackles to finish with the second highest score on the ground behind St Kilda’s Jack Steven who managed 158.
Adam Cooney’s stellar season continues and has made those who drafted him in Fantasy Elite stoked with his fourth ton of the season.
89 points from Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti was a handy reward for coaches who held onto the DEF/FWD. He is now up $176K to make him among the top earners for the year. He sits behind Matt Dea (+$203K) as the best Bomber cash cows.
It is a good time to trade the duo if you haven’t as yet and cash in on their epic seasons.
Sam Michael came in for his first game of the year and produced a very solid 67 points. He shared the ruck duties with Shaun McKernan (50 points). Michael increased $16K in value, but as a bench ruckman, he is a bargain still this week due to his breakeven being just 2.
Speaking of money makers, Will Hams has now added $108K following five games at an average of 64.8. A breakeven of 37 means he will still make some coin over the next few weeks in the forward line before downgrading him. Although, he could be a bit of a season keeper as a forward emergency across the last seven weeks of the season if he can keep scoring 70 like he did on Sunday.
For the record, Essendon scored 1590 Fantasy points to defeat St Kilda 1582.
This week the Bombers play the Tigers at the MCG on Saturday afternoon. It was only round 10 that the two sides met. Brendon Goddard managed 134 points from his 34 disposals and Zach Merrett got his average of 115.
