Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce Dylan Clarke has re-signed for a further year with the Bombers.
The new deal will see Clarke don the sash until at least the end of 2019.
Clarke made his debut in round nine against Geelong in the annual Powercor Country Festival at the MCG.
Clarke said he is thrilled to extend his career with the Bombers.
“I’m really excited to sign on for another year at the club,” Clarke said.
“We have an exciting list that’s really driven to improve and grow, and we’ve shown when we play our best footy it can compete with the best sides in the competition.
“My focus is to continue to work hard on my development, play hard in the VFL, and keep pushing hard to secure a regular spot in the senior side.”
Clarke was drafted by the Bombers with pick 63 ahead of the 2017 season.
He has proven to be a major ball winner, averaging over 30 disposals this year in the VFL.
In the 2016 National Championships, he averaged 24 disposals, which won him All Australian honours.
Senior Coach John Worsfold said Clarke has shown great dedication to his development.
“Dylan has shown promise throughout his two years at the Club. His debut was a great team performance against Geelong where he played an important midfield role,” Worsfold said.
“He shows great attitude both on and off the field, and as a result is constantly pushing for senior selection.
“We believe he has the ability to shine as an AFL player and we are excited to watch him continue to strive."
