Essendon VFL have announced the squad that will take on Geelong this Saturday at North Port Oval. 

The Bombers entered the finals series for the second year in a row, after notching up three straight wins at the end of the regular season to finish in eighth position.

Geelong had Essendon covered when they met earlier in the year finishing off with a comfortable 78-point win.

However, Coach Matthew Egan believes that the team are hitting form at the right time and will put forward a much improved display against the Cats.

“I’m pretty confident that we are building every week and now we are happy for the players that they get an opportunity to play in a final,” Egan said earlier in the week.

“It’s against a real quality team in Geelong that will show us exactly where we’re at.” 

The Bombers will also benefit from the return of  Conor McKenna, Jackson Merrett, Jake Long and Nick Kommer who all spent time playing in the AFL.

VFL coach Matthew Egan said the boys are excited for finals action after building such momentum across the AFL and VFL last weekend.

“To get some experienced players back and some really talented players that were playing really good VFL footy before they got AFL opportunity is fantastic,” Egan said

“We are excited to have them back and hopefully they bring their confidence from the AFL and put it into the VFL program.”

The Elimination Final kicks off at 2:40pm this Saturday at North Port Oval.
