Essendon List and Recruiting Manager Adrian Dodoro says the Club remains in ‘constant dialogue’ with Jobe Watson.
The Bombers secured David Myers earlier this week, while Dyson Heppell confirmed his commitment to the Club last night.
Watson is one of seven players yet to publicly confirm their position.
“We’ve been in constant dialogue with Jobe – we know where Jobe’s at,” Dodoro said.
“He’s just like the other guys in that he just wants to think about his life, his future and absorb everything that’s happened.
“I’m quietly confident that he’ll come back refreshed from overseas and he’ll have a huge pre-season and play with us next year but that’s up to Jobe to come out and say that.”
Last night, Heppell become the fifth of the suspended players to confirm he’ll remain with the Bombers.
“He brings an element of calmness to the group, he’s very measured, he’s very professional, he’s an outstanding leader for a young man,” Dodoro said.
“He’s an All-Australian midfielder and you don’t get to the levels he’s got to – a Rising Star winner – unless you’re a thorough professional and someone who is very diligent in what you do.
“Him coming back into our midfield next year along with some of the other signings that we’ve got is very exciting for us.”
Heppell's decision came a day after Myers agreed to a new three-year deal that will see him remain with Essendon until at least the end of 2019.
“Myersy is one of those guys that is a very measured person – he is very considered in everything that he does,” Dodoro said.
“He wanted to go away and think about a lot of things, he was an unrestricted free agent as well – he had a few clubs that had put offers to him.
“The great story about Myersy is he could have gone back to Western Australia – and there was probably a little bit of concern that he might have gone back.
“He came to us and said I want to be here and be part of the future, I want to be a one club player and it just makes you feel really warm that a guy of his calibre wants to be part of it.”
