Who is the highest scoring AFL Fantasy player after eight rounds? Our man, Zach Merrett (FWD/MID, $565,000).
With a season average of 116.3, Zach Attack is not only beating all comers for total points and average, his 143 on the weekend makes him the number one target for Fantasy coaches up forward thanks to his handy dual position status.
Merrett led the way for the boys on Saturday afternoon at Etihad Stadium in a match where the solid Fantasy scoring was overshadowed by the epic comeback. The spirt from the Bombers was appreciated by the fans at the ground and Fantasy coaches at home cheering on their players!
The Roos are one of the most restrictive teams when it comes to Fantasy, and while they managed 1628 between them, Essendon racked up 1567 including nine players scoring 80 or more.
As a forward, Kyle Langford (FWD, $328,000) is going under the radar with a handy 88 point game taking his season price changes up $141K. A breakeven of 28 will see him make some more cash in the coming weeks.
Matt Dea (DEF, $316,000) continues to play his role and is well down the pecking order to be traded out of our Fantasy teams. A breakeven of 46 should mean that his 27,410 owners should hold for a few more weeks – maybe until the byes – as he is doing his job down back.
There are a couple of Fantasy concerns coming out of the Hanger. Orazio Fantasia (DEF, $386,000) dropped $20K this week following his scores of 53, 54 and 54 over the last three rounds. A role that is seeing him play in the forward-line, rather than the wing that saw him scoring 100, 120 and 93 in the three rounds prior, means his Fantasy output is down. If you can trade him to a premium defender, you should try to do that this week… that is unless Raz can run up the field a bit more!
I have seen a few coaches drop David Zaharakis (MID, $514,000) this week. Yes, 57 isn’t fantastic considering it was a tough round, but we have to back our boys – especially premiums like Zaka!
My tip for the week is to try to hold your gun players and offload your cash cows. Bank some cash so you are able to upgrade to fallen premiums. Look out for the Bombers to rack up some decent points this round against the Saints. Consider Merrett as your captain!
