Essendon forward Joe Daniher expects the Bombers to continue to improve as the season goes on.
The Dons are in tenth position on the ladder with four wins and four losses heading into round nine.
The side plays the third placed West Coast on Sunday afternoon.
The Bombers will be looking for a repeat of the performance that saw the side take a 40 point lead into the three quarter time break against Geelong last week.
The win against the Cats followed two straight losses against Melbourne and Fremantle.
“For obvious reasons we haven’t quite built that team chemistry. We are a pretty new group together under John’s coaching,” Daniher told RSN.
“I’ve got no doubt our best will come in the latter half of the year because of those circumstances.
“The guys are working on a game plan which we are all confident in and looking forward to better executing that for four quarters.
“It’s something that we will take into next week against West Coast, in an exciting opportunity to play quality opposition again.
“The guys coming back into the side came back ready to learn and ready to really attack the pre-season and they did just that.
“The way they are going doesn’t look like they’ve missed a beat.
“We are trying to build a really strong football club for a long period of time. I’m excited by where the Club is heading and the opportunities that we can create with these guys.”
Daniher has impressed this season, booting 21 goals for the Dons.
He has also collected both the ANZAC Day medal and the Tom Wills Award for his performances against Collingwood and Geelong.
Daniher has kicked 8.2 in the last fortnight after kicking 1.6 against Melbourne.
“It (inaccuracy) has been quite disappointing throughout my career. I’m well and truly aware where it sits at the moment,” Daniher said.
“I’m really confident with a fair bit more hard work that I can get it to the level that I think I can get it to.
“That’s just going to come with knuckling down and getting the job done there but I’m sure that’s not too far away.
“I’m really confident with the people I’m working with and the processes that I’m undertaking.
“I pride myself on training to a much higher standard and I feel as though my teammates are doing the same, and hopefully those results aren’t far away for us.”
