Essendon could unleash a forward line featuring three tall marking options when the side meets Geelong on Saturday night at the MCG.

James Stewart has been called up to make his Bombers debut after some impresssive VFL form.

He could line-up alongside Joe Daniher and Cale Hooker in attack.

The key forward played 18 games for GWS before joining the Bombers at the end of last season.

He’s kicked eight goals and pulled down six marks per game throughout the first four rounds of the VFL season.

“He’s been in wonderful form all year and has been on our emergency list most of the season,” Essendon Coach John Worsfold said.

“He’s been looking for an opportunity and that comes for him now and we just want him to bring what he’s been doing.

“He moves around a lot, very skilful on both sides of his body and can compete well in the air.

“He’ll also be there to help our forward line function and kick goals.”

Andrew McGrath and Jobe Watson also return to the side after a week off.

In four of his six games this season, Watson has gathered 27 possessions or more and Worsfold is confident he’ll benefit from the break.

“We’re really confident that he’s in good shape, he certainly mentally was going pretty well and was keen to keep going into the Melbourne game but all our measurements showed he was starting to flag a bit in terms of being able to work at the level he likes to work at,” Worsfold said.

“We’ve given him that week [break] and we’re really confident he’ll bounce back.”

The Bombers will be looking for their fourth win of the season when they meet the Cats.

“We want to see more of our best footy and less of the footy where we drop off,” Worsfold said.

“Our focus has been about building that resilience that we expect from each other so our performances are a lot more steady.”
