Essendon Football Club players Shaun McKernan, Jayden Laverde, Connor McKenna and James Ferry are assisting Victoria Police after their house was the target of an early morning home invasion last Friday.

Thankfully the players were not harmed during the robbery, but the offenders did steal property from the house, including several cars.

General Manager of Football, Rob Kerr, said all four players have been offered the appropriate avenues of support.

“This was obviously quite a frightening experience for the players involved,” Kerr said.

“We are extremely thankful the players were not harmed, and we have offered them the appropriate avenues of support.

“We would like to thank Victoria Police for their prompt response and follow up.

“The players are keen to put this unfortunate incident behind them, so we ask the media to please respect their privacy.”

As the matter is the subject of an ongoing Police investigation the Club cannot make any further comment.
