Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce, Josh Green, will Don the Sash in 2018.
Green played 17 games for the Bombers this year, before injuring his foot in round 22 against Gold Coast.
Green said he is thrilled to continue with the Club for an additional year.
“I’m really thankful to Essendon for the opportunity they have given me,” Green said.
“I believe we have an exciting group of youth and experience, and if we put our heads down and work hard, success will follow.
“I’m excited to get stuck into training and continue striving towards achieving our team’s goals in the 2018 season.”
After seven years in the AFL system, Green has taken his career total to 98 games (81 with Brisbane).
Senior Coach, John Worsfold, said Green adds another dimension to the Dons forward line.
“Josh worked really well in our forward line this year. He added a dimension that we were looking for and he’s a very clever player,” Worsfold said.
“We believe as he continues to build his fitness base, he will have an even bigger impact for us.
“Coming off a pretty serious injury and being really limited the previous year, we we’re rapt with the way he attacked his rehab program and got himself fit for the season.
“It was really disappointing that we didn’t have him late in the season with that serious injury again but he took that in his stride and we are really confident with the program he has got that he will bounce back.”
List and Recruiting Manager, Adrian Dodoro, said Green is a handy inclusion on Bombers list.
“We are looking forward to seeing Josh take his football to another level in 2018,” Dodoro said.
“Josh is a really popular member of the team, he is liked by all of the players and staff, and brings the qualities, both on and off the field, that we look for in a player.”
