The four Daniher brothers made history when they ran on to the field together in the final home and away match of the 1990 season.
It turned out to be Neale Daniher’s last ever game.
He’d battled injury for the best part of a decade.
Daniher may not have been at his physical peak for that game (he still kicked three goals) but Coach Kevin Sheedy knew the lasting memory of the match would not be the result, but instead the amazing journey of a family from country New South Wales.
Anthony Daniher said Sheedy just understood people.
“He’s just a Legend – what he’s done for footy, what he’s done for our family, what he continues to do for footy,” Daniher said.
“He’s just got a massive appetite for people, he’s a people person.
“What he’s done for Indigenous footy … he’s done so many great things for our game, you just have to call him a Legend.”
