Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce Trent Mynott will join the Bombers, selected with pick number 11 in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
Mynott plays as an inside midfielder and spent the 2017 season working on his clearance skills for the Eastern Rangers, averaging 6.5 clearances per game.
He has the ability to burst away from stoppages through his acceleration and step his way through traffic.
Mynott measures in a 184.8cm with a light frame of 75.1kg and will use the pre-season to develop his body muscle.
List and Recruiting Manager, Adrian Dodoro, said the Club specifically targeted a midfielder in the Rookie Draft.
"Trent is an inside midfielder with terrific class around the stoppages," Dodoro said.
"He came in today and we gave him a heads up that if everything went according to plan we would be drafting him.
"He is a really good kid and we look forward to getting him in the red and black next year."
Eastern Ranges Talent Manager, Len Villani, said Mynott was an all-round inside midfielder with plenty to offer.
"He is great in traffic, especially in at the stoppages," Villani said.
"He is a natural footballer and just ticks so many boxes. He will come in and work really hard to earn his spot."
Eastern Ranges Senior Coach, Darren Bewick, said Mynott had really developed his game this year and added balance between an inside and outside player.
“Trent is a smokey. He’ll go somewhere and I reckon a club will get a ripper with him,” Bewick said.
“He’s an elite stoppage clearance player and he’s only developed that this year. He used to be an outside, good decision-maker, and still is, but has a real balance in his game now.”
