Essendon’s players and coaches helped spread the Christmas cheer to the less fortunate today, hosting a special Christmas luncheon at Windy Hill Venue.

Bombers’ speedster Jason Winderlich said he enjoyed sharing a special Christmas feast with the socially and financially disadvantaged members of the Brotherhood of St Laurence’s Coolibah Centre.

“It was good fun. It was great to see our players sharing the festive spirit with the group,” Winderlich said.

“I think it was a great opportunity for our guys to an insight into the hardships that people face, not only over Christmas but throughout their daily lives.

“Some people won’t have a bed to sleep in this Christmas and to think that something as little as putting on a lunch can brighten their day, then it’s well worth it.

“The group had smiles stretching from ear to ear when they jumped back on the bus and to know that the Essendon Football Club had played a part in that is pretty special.“
