David Myers
Once again Myers impressed through the midfield. In his second game back he collected 26 disposals, five marks and six tackles.
In Myers two VFL games this season he averages 30.5 disposals, 5.5 marks and 6.5 tackles.
He’d provide an added physical presence if called-up to the senior side.
Craig Bird
Bird finished with 28 disposals, 11 tackles and one goal.
After missing the round two clash against Collingwood, Bird came out impressed with his fierce contested work.
The strong-bodied midfielder played 18 games for Essendon in 2016, averaging 20 disposals.
Michael Hartley
With injuries to fellow defender Mitch Brown and Patrick Ambrose, Michael Hartley shapes as an obvious replacement.
The former Collingwood Rookie was a mainstay in the Essendon defence and was a part of the Bombers senior side that recorded wins against Hawthorn and Brisbane in the first two games of the season.
Hartley’s strong aeriel presence was on display against Werribee.
He pulled down a number of contested marks and would be an asset to the senior side if he’s called into the team.
Sam Draper
Draper shouldered the ruck duties against the North Melbourne listed, Braydon Preuss.
At only 19 years of age, Draper held his own in the air and was solid around the contest.
Beginning this season as a defender, Draper has now shifted his focus to improving his skills in the forward line and in the ruck.
VFL
Nick O’Brien
O’Brien worked hard to support the defence throughout the match.
He collected 26 disposals and took two contested marks in the Bombers defensive 50.
The Captain has been a solid contributor to Essendon’s games so far this season. He has averaged 24 disposals and five marks.
Alex Boyse
Boyse had 18 disposals, eight marks, five tackles and one goal. The athletic and agile forward proved to be a great target in attack with his strong marking ability a regular feature.
He has collected 19 marks in his two games this season.
