Essendon got back to its roots on Monday with a special training session held at the Club’s spiritual base, Windy Hill.

To mark the return to the ground players wore jumpers representing their local or junior club.

The Bombers last match at Windy Hill was in round 21, 1991.

That day the Dons beat Brisbane by 45 points with Darren Bewick kicking four goals and also collecting 36 possessions.

Essendon continued to train at the venue until 2013 when it moved to Tullamarine.

But the Club maintains a strong connection with Windy Hill through its VFL side, which plays its home games there.
