Essendon has not ruled out a late return for star forward Joe Daniher this season.

A number of club staff met with Daniher on Saturday to discuss his recovery from osteitis pubis.

GM of Football Dan Richardson said there is still a chance last year’s Crichton Medalist can play a part in the side after being off the park since round seven.

“Joe has shown some progress over the past few weeks and remains a chance to play this season,” Richardson said on Saturday.

While Daniher remains a chance to return, Richardson stressed the medical staff will remain conservative in their management of his rehabilitation.

“His long-term health will not be compromised hence our medical team will remain conservative in their approach to his recovery and rehabilitation.”
