Established in 2014, the Purple Bombers are a coterie group who assist the Essendon Football Club and the AFL, in being leaders of change for the LGBTIQ community.

The group’s aim is to create a safe environment for all supporters and players, by encouraging and promoting diversity and inclusion within the wider football community; a view that is iterated by the club.

“At the Essendon Football Club, everyone is important to us. One of our core values is inclusion,” Brendon Goddard said.

“We pride ourselves on being the most inclusive footy club and organisation in Australia.

“People in the LGBTIQ community are just normal people that deserve an equal chance. They have every right to be thought of, and treated the same as everyone else.”

In leading up to Round 19’s EFC Respect match against Fremantle, you are encouraged to join the Purple Bombers and further contribute to generating awareness and supporting the club’s value of inclusion.

“There is no greater time than now, to become a Purple Bomber,” Brendon Goddard said.

“By signing up, you will receive a FREE Medallion Club ticket to Round 18’s Essendon v Fremantle game at Etihad, as well as pre-game entry into the Purple Bombers Victory Room (*Etihad games) for the remainder of season 2018.”

“You will also have to opportunity to win 2 x spots in an exclusive inner sanctum match day experience, participating in the Guard of Honour on-field before the game.”
