Brendon Goddard’s 27 disposals performance against Carlton on Saturday night has been recognised by both Mick Malthouse and James Hird.

Goddard received nine votes in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year Award for his performance in the thrilling win over the Blues.

His contested ball highlighted by 14 contested possessions was matched with a disposal efficiency of over 81 per cent.

The coaches also acknowledged captain Jobe Watson giving him six votes for his 27 disposals and two goals against the Blues.

Watson was once again instrumental in leading his team to the incredible come from behind six-point win.

Carlton midfielder Kade Simpson was given eight votes for his outstanding performance with Ed Curnow receiving three.

The only other Bomber to attract the attention of the coaches was Michael Hurley in his first match back after missing a month of football.

Hurley finished with nine marks, 13 disposals and tree goals in his first match since Round 18 against Hawthorn.

Blues speedster Chris Yarran was rewarded with two votes for his 20 disposals and two goals.
