Inspirational Essendon captain Dyson Heppell has been presented the John Kilby Staff and Trainer’s Award at the Crichton Medal on Thursday night.

Pure class on and off the field, Heppell put together another impressive season for the Bombers in his second year in charge of the side.

The 2014 Crichton winner led his side from the front in 2018, heading the squad for average disposals (equal with Zach Merrett), contested possessions, inside 50s and clearances (equal with David Myers).

The tough, fair and respectful leader repeatedly put his body on the line for his side and never wavered in his constant drive to improve and get the best out of the squad this year, and the award is a just reward for another outstanding season.
