Exciting Essendon defender Conor McKenna has led the way in the AFLCA votes for the Bombers’ 19-point defeat of Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium on Friday.
McKenna was at his electrifying best, gathering 25 disposals, 10 intercept possessions, nine rebound 50s, seven running bounces and 622 metres gained as he tore the Hawks apart off half-back to claim seven coaches votes.
Key defender Michael Hurley was rewarded with six votes for his outstanding performance where he racked up 26 disposals, 12 marks and nine rebound 50s.
Speedster Adam Saad (20 disposals, 12 intercept possessions, six one percenters, five rebound 50s and a Coates Hire Goal of the Year nomination) and ball-magnet Zach Merrett (28 disposals, 13 contested possessions, eight score involvements and a goal) were both awarded five votes.

Key tall Cale Hooker was the final Bomber to be recognised, claiming one vote for his impressive defensive display gathering 22 disposals, 12 marks, five rebound 50s and five one percenters.
