Essendon skipper Dyson Heppell has been nominated for the JLT Mark of the Year for his courageous grab in the final term of the Bombers’ loss to St Kilda on Saturday.
A rushed kick under pressure from Saint Jack Newnes failed to clear Heppell, who bravely ran back with the flight to clutch the contested mark as opponent Josh Bruce closed in on the hanging ball.
It was a significant display of leadership from the captain at a crucial stage in the contest and his bravery has been deservedly rewarded.
You can vote for Heppell to claim the mark of the week over fellow contenders Bruce and Magpie Jordan De Goey to keep him in the running for the major prize at the end of the season.
