Nominations are now open for the 2019 Football Woman of the Year.
The Football Woman of the Year Awards were launched in 1998 by the Essendon Women’s Network (EWN), playing a vital role in recognising the important contribution of women at all levels of the Australian Rules football community.
The awards are presented by the EWN Network with the support of the Essendon Football Club, and endorsed by the AFL.
The award categories are:
Fujitsu General Football Woman of the Year - to celebrate and honour the achievements of women who have made an exceptional contribution within the Australian Rules football industry.
Emerging Leader - for women aged 30 or younger who are inspiring other women in football and showing strong leadership capabilities.
Community Award - to celebrate our unsung heroes who work on a volunteer basis, whether at local or AFL level.
Nominees can be either self-nominated or nominated by a third party, with the approval of the nominee.
The winner in each category is awarded at the Fujitsu General Grand Final Comedy Debate, which will be held on Thursday, September 26 at Crown Palladium.
Nominations close on Thursday, August 15.
