Essendon speedster Adam Saad has been nominated for the Coates Hire Goal of the Year for his sensational first senior goal in the red and black against Hawthorn on Friday.
Saad was instrumental in the impressive 19-point victory over the Hawks and he capped it off with the brilliant goal when he smothered the ball on the forward flank as Hawk James Frawley tried to pop a handball over the top of the dashing defender.
He managed to gather the ball immediately before streaming forward and turning Hawthorn midfielder Jarman Impey inside out, then launching the ball from the 50-metre arch on his trusty left foot.
The ball sailed through with ease as the passionate fans blew the roof off Marvel Stadium, with the Bombers flocking to Saad to join in the celebrations.
Adelaide’s Eddie Betts and Fremantle’s Brandon Matera are Saad’s fellow nominees this week and you can vote for the Bomber below to help keep him in the running for the award.
