This year’s pre-season will offer a new experience for the team’s youngest players.

The second to fourth year players will travel to the Northern Territory on Tuesday for a week-long camp, involving several rigorous training sessions as well as a number of community based activities.

Coach John Worsfold said the trip will provide a good opportunity for him and the players to bond and begin season 2016 on the right foot.

It will be made a lot easier for Worsfold with the players having to hand in their phones for the majority of the trip.

“I’m heading up to Darwin with these guys tonight so I’ll get some really good time to really sit down and find out a bit about them and what they’re about and what they want to get out of their footy,” Worsfold said.

“It’s very hard to engage these guys when there is anything in terms of WiFi floating through the air.

“There will be some withdrawal symptoms that will challenge them.

“I think they’ll really enjoy it.

“They’ll be challenged along the way and it’s about getting to know each other and looking at different communities within our own country."

The trip will also provide the new coach with the opportunity to share his own personal vision with the younger players, and set the tone for the years to come.

“It’s all new and exciting for me which I hope rubs off on the players,” Worsfold said.

“The way I go about things will be different to what they’ve seen in the past.

“I’m certainly going to challenge them in some areas that I know they can improve in.”

The camp is set to test the boys both mentally and physically, with the weather expected to reach the mid 30s during the trip.
