A stirring final quarter performance has seen Essendon knock off reigning VFL premier Box Hill by just three points at Highgate Reserve on Saturday afternoon.

A strong second half performance including late goals to Daniel Coghlan and Cory Dell’Olio sealed the result for the Bombers.

Ariel Steinberg was magnificent across halfback with ten intercept marks for the match proving a wall the Hawks defence was not able to get past.

In a tough day for forwards AFL listed duo Tayte Pears and Tom Bellchamebrs both looked lively providing an important target inside 50.

It was an attacking Bombers outfit that sealed the match in the final term with young half forward Anthony Tipingwuti providing important around the contest with clean skills and pace.

The win is the Bombers sixth of the season with their next opponent Port Melbourne next Saturday afternoon.
