Skilful midfielder Zach Merrett has been awarded the rounds 1-5 nomination for the Liberty Player of the Month.

Boasting some incredible numbers to start the season, Merrett led the league in average disposals from rounds 1-5 and currently sits third at 31.8 per game.

He has been pivotal in Essendon's strong start to the year in the midfield, where the team ranks fifth in the competition in average clearances at 39.8 per game.

The captain has also boasted strong goal-kicking form, hitting the scoreboard six times so far in 2025.

His form has propelled him into early Brownlow contention and also has him highly rated amongst the AFLCA votes.

Each month, the club will announce the winner of the Liberty Player of the Month, culminating in the Liberty Player of the Year at season's end - an award won by Zach Merrett himself last season.
