Essendon has recalled Peter Wright for their trip to face the Eagles at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

Recovering well from his ankle ligament strain on the verge of the season, the big man is now back in senior action after an impressive three-goal return in a VFL practice match last week against Box Hill.

With Nick Bryan out for the rest of the season from an ACL rupture, the Bombers will look for a different ruck arrangement this week, opting to stay tall with Wright's inclusion.

Will Setterfield holds his spot after a terrific outing in last week's win over the Dees, while Todd Goldstein has been listed as an emergency.

The Dons take on West Coast from 6:10pm AEST (4:10pm AWST) on Friday night.
