Essendon have been boosted by a two-year contract extension for exciting defender Amy Gaylor.
Already holding a year to run on her existing contract, Gaylor will now remain a Bomber until at least the end of the 2027 season thanks to the fresh signature.
Gaylor was a standout in her first year as a Bomber, featuring in every game and looking comfortable in an unfamiliar role off half back – the 19-year-old was named the club’s Rising Star winner and finished third in the league count for the same title.
Averaging 12 disposals and three tackles per game, the youngster exhibited her poise throughout the club’s midweek footy period, securing a Rising Star nomination for her 15-disposal effort in round six against the Swans.
AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Georgia Harvey is excited to see the promising teenager’s development in red and black over the next three seasons.
“We’re really excited to see Amy extend her contract by a further two years,” Harvey said.
“She’s extremely talented and has fully bought into the club culture, both on and off the field, since joining.”
“She adjusted to a new position this season down back and played a key role, but we are really excited about continuing her development into the midfield in the coming seasons.”
Cementing her season with a top ten finish in the Bombers’ Best and Fairest this month, the ceiling is looking high for Gaylor’s future in red and black.
The news comes amongst nine recent re-signings for the Club, as well as a successful Trade and Draft Period which held five new acquisitions across all three lines of the ground.
