Essendon VFL have continued their off-season activity with the acquisition of three new recruits, as well as a further three players from the 2024 squad committing for next season.
Joining the club in 2025 will be former VFL Cat Hamish Sinnott, former Southport midfielder Charlton Offermans and Calder prospect Noah Scott, all set to provide strong depth to the side’s centreline.
Sinnott joins after eight VFL games across three seasons with both Carlton and Geelong’s reserves – the hard-running 20-year-old brings an impressive aerobic skillset to the club, having run a 5:58 two-kilometre time trial at the State Combine back in 2021.
25-year-old Offermans has taken a unique pathway, formerly of the Gold Coast Academy prior to spending four years in the USA pursuing a college basketball career. After stints with Brisbane and Southport’s VFL outfits, the midfielder produced strong form for Labrador at local level this year.
Scott is fresh off his final Coates League season with Essendon affiliate Calder Cannons where he averaged 22 disposals per game across 15 outings this year, also representing Parade College well at school level.
Ryan Brodie, Lachie Monteath and Ricky Monti have all signed on for second seasons in red and black after first joining the squad in 2024.
Brodie broke into the side as a 23rd man in the second half of the season while representing Calder as a 19-year-old throughout the campaign. With five games of VFL experience now under his belt, Brodie can again provide solid run-and-carry off half back next year.
Monteath endured some injury setbacks throughout 2024 but has major upside as both a key position talent and potential ruck option, having featured 25 times for the Eastern Ranges over the last two seasons.
Bendigo talent Monti appeared for the Dons’ VFL side six times in 2024, finding a role as a small forward in the early stages of the year – another pre-season will set up the 21-year-old well for 2025.
