Essendon are proud to support the theatrical release of the documentary film Like My Brother.

Directed by Australian duo Sal Balharrie and Danielle MacLean, the film follows the lives of four indigenous Australian women from the remote Tiwi Islands, whose love for football propels them to dare to dream, to shatter conventions, tread uncharted territories, and shoulder the hope of a community in their pursuit to play in the AFLW.

The women in the feature, Rina, Freda, Julianna and Jess, each spent time at the NEC Hangar and integrated into our VFLW program in 2019 ahead of being granted our AFLW licence in 2022.

Filmed over the course of six years, Like My Brother will be released exclusively in cinemas across Australia on Thursday, October 17.
