Essendon’s most recent debutant, Archie Roberts, has extended his commitment to the club, signing a one-year contract extension.

The new deal will see Roberts remain in the red and black until at least the end of 2026.

The Sandringham Dragons product debuted in Round 21 against Fremantle and has immediately impacted at AFL level.

The midfielder said he was excited to pen the new deal.

“I’m absolutely stoked to extend to 2026 and to be a part of this special group,” Roberts said.

“I’ve loved my first season with the boys, and being rewarded with senior footy has topped an awesome year. I'm looking forward to having a positive impact on the footy club in the years to come and helping drive this club to ultimate success.”

“Archie has been incredibly impressive throughout his first season at AFL level and has shown great potential throughout his first three games,” McPherson said.

“Since walking through the doors, he has been determined to grow and learn as much as possible, evident through his growth throughout the year.

“Archie has an exciting future ahead, and we can’t wait to see what he achieves over the coming years.”
