Essendon VFLW captain El Chaston has topped off a consistent 2024 VFLW season by winning the club’s Best and Fairest.

In their second year with the club, Chaston stepped into the skipper role with ease and led from the front in a solid developmental year for a new-look Bombers outfit, propelling the side to a finals appearance against eventual premiers North Melbourne.

On-ball partner Ruby Mahony's stellar first season in the red and black was also rewarded, finishing runner-up in the count.

Moving across from Western Australia for this campaign, the midfielder flourished in her first taste of VFLW action as a consistent performer for the side.

Midfielders continued to take home honours, with Ashlea Melnikas claiming third place on the night.

The former Kangaroo provided an experienced head within an emerging young outfit, with her leadership proving critical to the Dons' surge in the second half of the season.
