Rookie Vigo Visentini has signed a one-year deal to remain a Bomber until at least the end of 2025.
First joining the Dons from Xavier College with pick No.8 in the 2023 Rookie Draft, the 204cm ruck-forward is seen as a long-term prospect for the club and has shown promising signs of his potential through the VFL this season.
The 18-year-old is keen to continue his development in the red and black into the 2025 season.
“It has been a really enjoyable year at the club as all players, coaches and staff members have created a really encouraging and welcoming environment. It has enabled me to develop as a player and person and I feel like I’m improving every week,” Visentini said.
"I’ve learnt so much from several guys like 'Goldy' (Todd Goldstein), 'Drapes' (Sam Draper) and 'Bryza' (Nick Bryan), but everyone has assisted at different stages.
"It's a super exciting time to be a Bomber and it’s fantastic to be able to continue to build capability at a great club.”
Often providing assistance for fellow ruck Nick Bryan at VFL level, Visentini’s added layers to his game in different positions throughout the campaign and impressed coaches and teammates with his clean hands and on-field creativity, especially for a player of his size.
In total, Visentini’s appeared in all 14 of the Bombers’ VFL games this season and booted 10 goals, including a season-high haul of three majors against Southport at the NEC Hangar in round four.
General Manager – AFL Daniel McPherson said the club is excited to see Visentini’s growth in the year ahead.
“Since he walked in the door, Vigo has shown a great appetite to learn and commit to ongoing improvement and we’re excited about his further development,” McPherson said.
“We’ve created an environment where players are able to enjoy their footy and a space for daily improvement. Vigo has leant into this, and his footy development is on show each week.”
